1、意思不同：
there是那里的意思，为指示代词；they是他们的意思，用于主语，可以用于答语。
2、用法不同
there用于there be句型或作状语。there be翻译成中文是有...；存在... 这个修饰人和物都可以。
例句：There are two apples on the table 桌子上有两个苹果
they用于主语，可以用于答语。
例句：They are good friends 他们是好朋友。
there和they的其他用法：
1、there 是副词, "在那里，在那儿"的意思。一般的搭配是 there is /are；there is + 单数名词
there are + 复数名词；
eg：1、There is one student in the classroom；2、There are many students inthe classroom
2、They 是人称代词，是他们/她们的主格，用于句子中作主语：They are walking。
